Generate a background directly at 4K UHD resolution rather than enlarging a small image. The default 3840 × 2160 canvas is suitable for a landscape wallpaper or a 4K video project. A 3840x2160 background is a 16:9 UHD still image, not a photo upscaler; use 2160 × 3840 when the project needs a portrait canvas with the same pixel count.

How to generate a 3840x2160 background in 4K UHD
The landscape preset uses 3840 × 2160 pixels, commonly called UHD 4K. Swapping those dimensions makes a portrait image with the same pixel count.
Choose landscape 4K or portrait 2160x3840 dimensions
Use the landscape preset for a 16:9 desktop background or presentation asset. Choose 2160 × 3840 when a portrait project needs that orientation. This generator draws colors and shapes at the selected dimensions; it does not restore detail in an uploaded low-resolution photo.
Allow for the working memory
A 3840 × 2160 RGBA canvas has about 31.6 MiB of raw pixel data before encoding, with additional memory needed by the browser. The compressed download can be much smaller. If a mobile browser struggles, close other tabs or test at Full HD first before returning to 4K.
Inspect the downloaded dimensions
The page preview is scaled to fit your screen, so it is not displayed pixel-for-pixel. Check the saved file's dimensions and inspect it at the intended size in another application. A large pixel count is useful only when it matches how the image will be used.

What resolution does this 4K generator use?
