This is a smaller preview. Open the screen to fill your display and hide the page controls.

Set your screen light

Use your display as a soft light source for a call, desk or small subject. Choose a tone, displayed intensity and central lit area.

These controls change the displayed color and lit area. Adjust hardware brightness in your device settings. This tool does not access your camera.

Optional. Your normal screen timeout applies.

Press Escape to exit. Move the pointer or tap the screen to bring back the Exit button.

Adjust a screen-based fill light without camera access

Turn a spare display, laptop or tablet into a controllable fill surface. Choose warm, neutral or cool presets, or set a custom color; adjust the displayed intensity and rectangular lit area before entering fullscreen. Use your meeting app to judge the effect. The page does not access your camera, record video or modify system brightness. Warm and cool colors are visual approximations, not measured color temperature or a calibrated lighting output.

Ways to use the screen light

Add gentle fill from a second screen during a video call.

Compare warm and cool screen colors in your camera app.

Adjust the lit region for a small nearby photography setup.

How to use a screen as video-call fill light

A nearby display can add fill, but its output and effect depend on the device, distance and ambient light.

Position a spare screen beside your camera

Open the tool on a second display or device and keep your video call visible in its own app. Compare your usual lighting before and after starting the screen light; this page does not preview the camera.

Adjust one lighting control at a time

Start with neutral white, then compare the warm and cool presets. Set content intensity and the rectangular lit area gradually. Color labels describe the page output, not certified Kelvin or measured light levels.

Keep an exit and wake-lock status available

Use fullscreen only when it suits your setup. Recall the controls to adjust the light or exit. Keep awake is optional and depends on browser support and page visibility; its displayed state is more useful than assuming it always remains active.

Screen Light: questions & answers

Everything you need before your next download.

Do I need to allow camera access?

No. This tool only displays light-colored content. Keep your call or camera preview in the app you already use and adjust the screen light by observing that preview.

Does the intensity slider control my hardware backlight?

No. It scales the color shown by the page. Hardware brightness, display calibration and distance affect actual light; adjust device brightness separately.
